The Patriarchy

I was recently having a discussion with a friend who was questioning what I was referring to when I mentioned the patriarchy and in fact if such a “thing” even existed.

My response was to explain that the patriarchy is not an organisation, or a conspiracy but instead a social dynamic that now has a tendency to self-perpetuate. I suggest this is due to the simple fact that once a person or people attain power, they tend to create structures that protect that power. These structures are not by any means just institutional or authoritarian, but include social and cultural phenomena too.

Anyhow, the conversation inspired me to create a website as a piece of art that could function as the “thing” of patriarchy that does exist. I am curious to see how people both for and against might react and interract with the site!
